Fall Foliage in the Mountains of Colorado

Yes it is technically still summer in Colorado, but as the sun sets in the high country in Breckenridge, Frisco, Vail, Aspen and elevations over 8,000 feet you can tell Fall is quickly approaching.

Fall is the time of year when the aspens change to a brilliant orange and gold. The mountains come alive with color and are a photo opportunity not to miss.

There are many ways to appreciate this beauty. One is to just look up and snap a picture but to truly appreciate this special time of year is to be part of it. Go for a hike and be amongst the gold, red and oranges,Rent a bike or arrange for a guided bike tour with a knowledgable and professional guide, Arrange for an atv and get up into the miles of trails and vantage points to be above tree line and look down on this scenic beauty, contact an outfitter and have a guide bring you the best places for viewing. Examples would be to go on a jeep tour, go on a horseback ride or as I mentioned a bike or an atv.  Experience the combination of the peacefulness of water and the majestic beauty of the mountains; rent a boat on Lake Dillon.

Typically the best time for viewing begins around the third week of September but cold weather and high winds can change this.
